TWO men have been charged with the daylight attack of an off-duty police officer at a local cafe.

The senior constable was at the cafe on Dangar Street in Pilliga, near Wee Waa, at about 10am on Tuesday.
Police said he was off-duty at the time but was confronted by two men, before a verbal altercation broke out.
Officers allege the men punched the senior constable several times to the face before witnesses intervened.
The pair then left the cafe. Police from Wee Waa and Narrabri were called and arrested the men.

The 44-year-old man is facing charges of assault police occasioning actual bodily harm (ABH), intimidation and offensive language.
An 18-year-old man was charged with assault police occasioning ABH and offensive language.
The pair were granted bail by police to front court in late-May.
Police said the officer suffered bruising and swelling to his face.
