While Tamworth Regional Council has footed the bill for a number of trips to China over the years to investigate economic opportunities abroad, this trip will be funded by the federal government.
The councillors will vote on sending the mayor and the council's economic analyst, Alex Wang, to Ningbo, China next month as part of a Namoi Unlimited joint councils' delegation.

The joint organisation has received $20,000 from the Australia China Council to fund the trip, according to the Tamworth council papers.
"The 'Namoi to Ningbo' is a coordinated overseas study tour for up to 15-20 exporters looking to obtain invaluable experience about business and export opportunities in China," general manager Paul Bennett said in his report to councillors.
The trip will support research by the Regional Australia Institute to gather information on "global markets", "attracting investment on the right terms" and innovation in agriculture.
