Not only did the teenager make her first grade debut for Tudor Wests but she slotted the final goal as they scored a 3-1 season opening 3-1 win over Olympians.
The performance of Barnett-Suey and fellow debutant Lauren Vella were one of the highlights of what was an promising start to the season.
"There's lots to build on," coach Sam Levick said.
He couldn't but be impressed by what he saw from the two youngsters.
Remarkably it was for both their first ever game of women's hockey, the unavailability of a number of players seeing them thrust into first grade.
Both had cracking games.
Playing on the left wing Vella, Levick remarked that she was always penetrating with her cross balls and making tackles, while Barnett-Suey was "quite instrumental" on the left wing.
Her goal came from a tap-in, the youngster putting herself in a good position on the back post.
Sarah Willis and Vicki Miller also found the back of the net.
Levick said the side had trained well in the pre-season and was pleased to see them put into practice what they had been working on.
"The girls took the game plan and pretty much stuck to it," he said.
"That's where we came away with it."

They led 1-nil at half-time and, Levick felt, really had Olympians under the pump in the first half.
That laid the foundation, their ball movement and pressure leading to a lot of opportunities.
"The midfield was transferring the ball up the field quite well and we were defending quite well in their half," he said.
Taking on the coaching role this season Levick said it is exciting to have a young base to work with, with a lot of the side in their late teens.
"The fact that we do have a young team we've got a good platform," he said.
