Conversely, Hofman paid tribute to his less experienced players for lifting their games.
THS beat Southgate 16-6, with the former coming from third place on the ladder after the regular season to beat minor premiers Southgate.
Two THS senior players, Libby Magann and skipper Giaan White, were named the joint grand final MVP.
Hofman said THS had to use "two or three younger girls", who normally played B-grade, to "fill our side" in the season finale. "And those younger girls really did well against the older girls," he said.
The "younger girls" included Hannah Irwin, sisters Mackenzie and Peyton Abra, Rachel Barnes and Bianca Mulligan.
"Certainly those younger girls stepping up helped the older girls," Hofman said, adding that THS's high-calibre senior players were "exceptional" in their ability to "move the young girls around".
The senior brigade also included top representative players Lucy Hofman and Mikayla Gross.

Hofman said all sides "struggled a bit" numbers wise during the season. "And the comp was fairly even during the year, which was good," he said.
"But to come from third and pick up the win in the grand final was excellent," he added.
In the grand final, he said THS was not "comfortable at all at any stage of the game besides the last couple of minutes when we had a few goals on them". "They [Southgate] performed really well," he said.
"Our girls sort of stuck to the game plan pretty well and executed what they needed to do to get a few goals."
