Tamworth Regional Council project manager Grant Reeckman said eager skateboarders have been breaking into the Viaduct Park construction site which is "not permissible" and could damage the surfaces.
"I know it's very tempting to come in here when there is something like this and everyone is champing at the bit to come in here," Mr Reeckman said.

"But we need to keep them out for safety reasons until it is finished.
"And we don't want any damage to any surfaces at this stage which are still curing and that's going to damage to those surfaces."
He said CCTV would be installed at the park soon to keep a watch over any "anti-social" behaviour and any skate-related injuries.
Mr Reeckman said a grand opening had been planned for May 26.
He said pro-outfit Totem Skateboarding were coming up for the event to do skate workshops for locals.
While most of the cement-work has been completed, the project manager said there was still some landscaping to be done as well as the construction of a new toilet block.
The first phase of the project might be nearing completion, but Mr Reeckman said more work could be on the cards later-on.
"Hopefully, we can add to it later with basketball courts and bouldering walls and possibly a coffee shop," he said.
"Something like a couple of shipping containers with youth coming down here and learning some skills in hospitality and a performing arts stage for bands."
