THE council looks set to offload another $20,000 into sponsoring the upcoming National Rugby League (NRL) fixture at Scully Park next month.

The Wests Tigers club is bringing one of its home games to Tamworth for the second consecutive year on the back of a deal with the Wests Entertainment Group.
Despite some criticism last year, the council sponsored the fixture and it looks set to repeat its cash spend.

"Due to the significance of the game and the success of the 2018 event, $20,000 sponsorship is considered a very worthwhile investment," a report to councillors said.
Destination Tamworth logos were flashed on signs around the ground during last year's broadcast which had an estimated coverage value of $100,000, according to the council.
It is unclear whether the 2019 sponsorship will include any ticket packages to be given away like last year.
The economic benefit from the 2018 game was valued at $2.1 million.
