Davis crashed on the first corner while competing at a round of the American National Series, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on the weekend.
He broke the same left collarbone in a crash, and then won the under-16 national title last year. And he broke a wrist in a crash, and then won the under-14 national title.

As such, his mother, Katrina, hopes the latest injury is a good omen. "Maybe a forced spell isn't a bad thing," she said.
She said it would be at least six weeks before he raced again.
She said if he did not compete at the nationals, it was hoped he would still get selected for the world championships because of his strong record.
He finished third in the most recent Australian national series, competing in the under-16 category. But he turns 17 before the 2019 nationals and, as such, would compete in the junior elite category at that event and at the world championships.
"We're deciding on whether it is worth him racing at the nationals," Katrina said. "We're hoping he's done enough already ... to say to the Australian selectors, 'Pick him for the world titles.'"
Davis has suffered a number of serious concussions in crashes, and last year his family saw a concussion specialist over their concerns about his long-term health.
At last year's world championships in Azerbaijan, he crashed out in the quarter-finals.
