Soonchild will don Wild West costume for her show Shootin' Sadie, in a dinner-theatre experience at The DAG Sheep Station.

Last performed at the Sydney Fringe Festival in 2013, Shootin' Sadie has been revived to raise funds for Hills of Gold Preservation Inc.

The group was established last year "to research, assess, and inform good decision-making regarding a wind farm proposal from Hanging Rock to Crawney".

A Charles Sturt University communications graduate, Soonchild wrote the show in the genre she'd always wanted to perform.

She is joined by director Gwenda Hague, who is also her mum.

"I wrote one scene for my grandpa, who loved True Grit, as a Christmas present," Soonchild said.

"When I performed it in his lounge room, he encouraged me: 'Keep doing this'. When he passed away in 2013, I wrote it in his honour."

With Soonchild playing a dozen characters in "a 45-minute rollicking tale", Shootin' Sadie is an epic adventure drawing on the aural tradition of storytelling.

"When I performed Shootin' Sadie at the Sydney Fringe Festival, a feared critic who saw the production complimented it as 'tourable'," Soonchild said.

"It was always my intention to revive it. This could be the start of something."

Soonchild grew up in Nundle and moved away to study, before returning two years ago to work creatively.

"I love Nundle and the country. I wanted to be creative without the pressure of the city," she said.

"Smaller communities are supportive and there are less overheads to run a creative business. The country inspires me, too.

"I love how people drop things off at your back door, you are visible and fill a place in the community."
