The Tamworth Business Chamber is hosting the "regional economic update", with president Jye Segboer lauding it as one of the best opportunities for local businesses to engage with council.

Other projects and proposals expected to go under the spotlight include the university, water security, the aquatic facility and the intermodal freight hub.

Joining mayor Col Murray, general manager Paul Bennett and director of planning and compliance Brent McAlister on the panel will be Qube Logistics general manager Sean Hovey, who will provide a "detailed update of where exactly the intermodal freight hub project is at."

"It will be a great opportunity to foster dialogue between council and the business community, and detail where these projects are at and what they will mean for Tamworth," Mr Segboer said.

Council will also present its 'Tamworth Tomorrow' strategic plan, which will map out the pathway to increasing the population base.

Mayor Col Murray said he is excited to share the "exciting strategic planning journey council is about to embark on."

"I am excited by the vision of Council and eagerly await the opportunity to share my views on the hows and whys of working towards a population of 100,000," he said.

The event will run as an open forum, and will give attendees the opportunity to "have their voices heard on any matter."

"Council have outlined a desire to reach 100,000 in the next two decades, but what needs to be done to ensure housing, infrastructure and resources can accommodate that?" Mr Segboer said.

The forum will be held on March 27 at the Econo Lodge, starting at 6.45am.
