SOME of the region's best riders are set to battle it out at the Peel Valley Showjumping Championships at AELEC on March 16-17.
The two-day event will feature a variety of categories and will see riders attempt jumps as high as 1.4 metres.
Hosted by the North-North West Showjumping Club, the competition is expected draw several hundred riders to Tamworth.
Competition entrant Sharmayne Spencer said she was expecting "fierce" competition over the two days.
"It's a highly anticipated event on the local calendar," Spencer said.
"I know most of the competitors will be holding nothing back during the event, so the competition will be pretty fierce.
"It should be a great event."
As well as local riders, the event is also expected to draw competitors from around NSW and interstate.
"Riders will be coming from far and wide," Spencer said.
"It's always a lot of fun and this year should be no different."
Competition begins at 8am on Saturday and Sunday.
Entry to the event is free with spectators encouraged to come along.
