The Men of League's North West zone includes towns from Tamworth to Moree and all centres in between, with fundraisers held in most of these locations.
"We are one of 40 local-area committees Australia wide manned by about 500 volunteers who raise funds for the foundation," said Peter Haley, the North West treasurer.
He said assistance was then provided to people from the "rugby league family" who were experiencing hardship due to sickness or injury.
"This can be financial assistance or perhaps just a visit to someone in hospital or at home doing it a bit tough," he added.
"Last week local members cooked a BBQ and talked footy at Alkira Hostel as part of the welfare work the foundation undertakes."
Haley said Men of League helped men, women and children from the rugby league community from all levels of the game.
"Anyone can become a member, with a number of membership packages available," he said.
