THE Tamworth Greyhound Racing Club is facing an uncertain future after the club's track failed an inspection on Wednesday.

The inspection was carried out by Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) and if successful would have allowed the club to host trials this Saturday.
However, due to recent dry conditions the track was deemed unsafe for trials and will be reinspected in the coming days.

Tamworth Greyhound Racing Club president Robert Munn told the Leader it was disappointing the track wasn't given the green light.
"The inspectors told me that they didn't think the track had progressed enough from their inspection last week to give us the go ahead," Munn said.
"From what the inspectors told me, the earliest anyone could come and inspect the track again is Friday or Saturday.
"Hopefully that is the case."
GRNSW policy states a club with recently completed track upgrade works must host a trial meeting before a non-TAB meeting.
Tamworth is next slated for a meeting on March 23 -a meeting which Munn is unsure will go ahead.
"We're a bit up in the air on that one at the moment," he said.
"I'm not too sure if the next inspection goes well if we will be able to trial this weekend and have the March 23 remain as a non-TAB meeting.
"From what I understand, under their policy, March 23 will be a trial meeting and another non-TAB meeting we have missed out on."
In a further blow to local trainers, Armidale remains off the table for racing, as the track undergoes upgrade works.
A GRNSW spokesperson said maintenance crews were working on recently discovered issues with the track's drainage system.
"An Armidale track culvert crossing collapsed in early February," the spokesperson said.
"During February, the collapsed wooden culvert was removed and debris cleaned from the water course (creek) which flows under the track at two points.
"The second culvert was also collapsed and the waterway cleared as it was deemed unsafe.
"GRNSW is currently assessing the work required to remediate the culvert crossings and restoration of the track surface."
The spokesperson could not confirm when either track would be ready for racing.
