Peter Demaine appeared in Moree Local Court on Monday following his arrest on the side of the road on Saturday afternoon.
Police were conducting random breath testing about 2.30pm when they stopped a Toyota Corolla on Oak Street, near the Gwydir Highway.
A 17-year-old woman behind the wheel was spoken too, as well as Demaine, before police searched the car.
Inside, officers found a bag stashed under the passenger footwell with "approximately 10 large snaplock bags of what is alleged to be cannabis", police said.

Police claim the bags contained close to 800g of dried cannabis leaf with an estimated street value of $15,700.
Demaine, who police said was from Lightning Ridge, was charged with two offences and refused bail.
The 18-year-old has admitted to supplying a prohibited drug, before a back-up charge of possessing the drug was withdrawn in court.
Despite the guilty plea, it wasn't enough sure his release with magistrate Greg Grogin refusing bail.
He found Demaine was an unacceptable risk of failing to appear at court and committing a further serious offence.
Mr Grogin ordered Demain to remain behind bars until sentencing in mid-April.
