At the season launch on Wednesday, in which a new 50th anniversary uniform was unveiled, Tamworth basketball president Jason Darcy described that long-held goal as the "holy grail".
"It's been 50 years. We'd love to get a championship in the women or men's," he said.
"So it's something that's been elusive in Tamworth basketball."
The men's side launch their season against Manly at the Dome on Saturday.

Thunderbolts coach John Ireland said it was the best pre-season he had seen at club.
The side came up a game short of making the grand final last season, after making the finale the year before.
"It's really exciting," Ireland said. "It's a really well-balanced group of guys.
"We obviously still have some quality leadership with guys likes of David Burke and Chris Skilton.
"But at the same time we've got some great youth coming through - kids like Brock McMahon … and young Billy Parsons [son of ex-NRL star Matt Parsons]."
