On land selected by his grandfather in 1890, the only son of George Thomas 'Tony' (British Empire Medal) and Freda Lucy Mary Morrison, Robert William Morrison was born on 19-7-1939 and passed away on 10-2-2019 at his home 'Oakey' at Limbri Road, Kootingal, at age 79.

Robert was well known for his mechanical ability after being apprenticed to Bert Giesberts 'Kootingal Motors' about 1954 and eventually brought his boss out and continued business into the 1990's.
He loved Chevrolet vehicles in general and was well known for travelling in his old Chev truck or 'Pinky' his EK Holden station wagon. He was an expert with Ferguson tractors and their differences. No job was ever too daunting for him to undertake and he rarely said no to any job.
Robert was a shy person but once confidence was gained he would talk of the area's past history and how his grandfather broke the record of ascending the 'Blue Pinch' on the Moonbi Range with his horse team and heavy loads.
He traveled extensively in Eastern Australia, South Australia and Central Australia. He rarely took a holiday and a break from mechanical jobs was to go cotton chipping out west. He fondly told of the people he met and his life growing up, as well as his experiences of being a mechanic and tow truck operator in earlier times and later of being a volunteer fireman.
In recent years he showed his old vehicles at motor shows and rallies and always thought someone else was more deserving of a trophy than he.
He rarely complained of his ill health and continued doing jobs to the very end.
Robert will be sadly missed by all those who knew and loved him and will leave a deep void in everyone's lives and hearts. A gentleman, a friend, the best example of humanity and an icon of Moonbi, Kootingal and district.
We are deeply sorry for his passing.
