THE Greater Northern Tigers under-16s maintained their undefeated streak in the Andrew Johns Cup, thanks to an outstanding performance over the Parramatta Eels 28-14 at Singleton’s Pirtek Park on Saturday.

Following victories over the Central Coast Roosters and Newcastle Knights Development Squad in previous weeks, this match was always going to be a big test.
But, the “locals” posted their third successive win.
The two teams were locked 10-all at the break, following a diabolical opening period, according to coach Steve Haylen.
“We didn’t complete one set in the first half,” he said.
“The boys fell away from what we have been trying to do.
“It was very messy.
“But, the most pleasing thing was we turned it around in the second half following a rev-up at the break, which brought them back to earth.”

Inverell centre Campbell Watchirs had another strong game.
Mark Simon and Jock Brazel produced big performances in the middle of the park, too.
The Tigers will chase a fourth consecutive Andrew Johns Cup triumph against North Coast in Coffs Harbour this Saturday.
