With a 25-run first innings lead, Mornington closed it's first innings at 5-139 to pursue outright points.
However, that ambition was thwarted thanks to a patient 30 from Paddy Paul and a hard-hitting 82 from Bowe Coward.
The pair's efforts helped Kookaburras to a total of 185, a target which was reduced by the accurate bowling of Mornington's Rhyce Kliendienst (4-26).
In reply, Mornington reached 6-101 before the close of the second day's play arrived and denied them a chance of an out right victory.

Mornington's second innings total was largely down to Stan Gaynor who played a lone hand of 64, while Kookaburras skipper Cameron Milne claimed 2-46 with the ball.
Milne said while his side lost first innings points, he was "pleased with their efforts".
"I think a few guys, such as Bowe Coward, will take a bit of confidence out of Saturday's game," Milne said.
"Hopefully those guys can take that confidence deep into the finals."
The result will see Kookaburras and Court House do battle on Saturday in a replay of last season's semi-final with the winner to face Albion in the grand final the following week.
"We know Court House for a variety of reasons haven't been in the best form lately," Milne said.
"This season alone we have been able to beat them a couple of times, so I don't think there's any reason why we can't do it again."
