Plans for the 24-hour South Tamworth station went on display on Wednesday and it's state of the art.
Tamworth MP Kevin Anderson visited the site at Ringers Road.
"It's been on the books for some time to ensure firefighters have the resources and equipment and the home that they can work from to provide the safety and comfort and make sure our communities are looked after," he said.
Eleven new firefighter jobs were announced for the city last year and now the four bay fire station is closer to fruition.
It's hoped the fire station will improve response times for 000 calls.
