Gunnedah Rugby Club will host the Day with the Devils event on Saturday, testing the waters – albeit in a pretty big way – before hopefully making it an annual attraction.
It will run from 10am to midnight, with the acts and stalls showcasing the talent of people in the region, one of the organisers said.
“It’s our first year and we’re hoping to make it an annual event that people can look forward to,” Allison Korn said.
“A lot of people complain there’s not much to do in a country town, but if everyone was to get behind it, it would be a unique annual event … and we can really make something of it if we get the support.”

The event is the idea of a few members and supporters of the 128-year-old club, and Miss Korn said the committee of about five had been meeting weekly since late 2017 to plan the do.
The entertainers will include: Carl the Bartender, three-time Golden Guitar nominee Tori Forsyth, 2018 Starmaker winner Brad Cox, and Hurricane Fall.
Food, drink and market stalls will also be drawn from mostly the region, and there will be a free jumping castle and face-painting.
“Our main focus is to give back to mental health, so this year we’re trying to keep costs as low as possible to not place too much strain on the local community, which is already struggling in drought.
“Then, as we get our name out there and as the years go by, we hope to get bigger and bigger and start to donate to local charities.”
