The multi-award-winning physiotherapy practice is opening its doors at 103 Peel Street on February 18.
Led by chief executive Deborah Hunter, who won the New England North West 2017 Business Leader of the Year award, and Best Small Business and Business of the Year in 2016, the practice will have a number of staff:
- Principal physiotherapist Deborah Hunter;
- Senior physiotherapist Stephanie Capel;
- Exercise physiologist Shae Flynn;
- Senior receptionist Allison Erich; and
- An allied health assistant.
As well as offering physiotherapy and exercise physiology consultations at its practice, Move Better For Life will undertake home visits and offer reviews and consultations at aged care facilities.
A range of wellness classes designed to help people recover from injury or simply to improve strength and balance will also be offered.
These are overseen by a physiotherapist and exercise physiologist.
All the programs are individually adjusted to allow for pre-existing injury or other physical limitations.
Move Better for Life will also offer allied health aged-care packages.
Deborah says, “The population in Tamworth and surrounds is living and working longer than ever before. There is significant need to help people to stay independent longer as well as maintaining a greater quality of life.
“Our philosophy is to help people to ‘move better for life’, so we focus on prevention and education.
“We treat the cause, not just the symptom, so our clients can maintain an active lifestyle.”
Physiotherapists assess, treat and prevent disorders in human movement.
Some of the areas covered by a physio include joint and muscle, stiffness and injuries; falls and balance problems; generalised muscle weakness and deconditioning following an illness; post-operative recovery; chest and lung problems; walking and mobility difficulties, women’s health, and sports rehabilitation.
