The hunt for the armed offender continues following the hold-up at the Robert Street Shopping Complex on Tuesday afternoon.
The 35-year-old victim wasn't injured in the 3.50pm robbery when he was confronted from behind, and then handed over the money.
Oxley Detective Acting Inspector Jason Darcy said the offender, wearing a shirt and shorts, calmly walked off towards the library and was last seen in Croydon Avenue.
"He was seen walking to the front of the supermarket, lingering and then targeted the man at the ATM," he said.

"This was broad daylight and on the CCTV there was a number of people walking in and out of the Robert Street complex at the time and we need to talk to them, anyone who might have seen this man or witnessed the incident."
Detectives have canvassed the area for witnesses but are hoping someone might have been driving past, and saw the offender as he walked off, or where he went next.
"Detectives have been conducting extensive inquiries, following a number of lines of inquiry to find the man responsible," Detective Darcy said.
"We're confident there is a number of people who know who this offender is and we're looking to talk to them.
"People need to put themselves in the position, that if this was their loved one that was held up at knifepoint, then they would want the community to come forward with information.
"Solving crimes like this is a partnership between the community and police."
Detectives are hoping someone in Croydon Avenue or surrounding streets might have surveillance cameras that could have captured the offender's movements.
Anyone with information on the robbery or who saw the man is urged to contact Tamworth police on 6768 2999.
