More than 500 people danced their way into the record books with band Simply Bushed during Tamworth Country Music Festival.
The five-piece also took home the Country Rock Song of the Year at the Tamworth Songwriter’s Association Awards for White Side of the Fence.
The song addresses the discrimination of Aboriginal people prior to 1967.

“The lyrical content of the song, telling the story of Roy Mundine, required a powerful component which clearly appealed to the judges in the country rock category,” frontman Paul Grierson said.
“I didn’t know how seriously people would take this song, it’s great they have listened to the message.”
The Guinness World Record is now in the hands of officials to be certified, with the final count coming in at 521 dancers in Bicentennial Park – at least 500 people were needed.
