The War on Waste star was the guest of honour at the inaugural Waste Warrior's Expo at the Tamworth Jockey Club on Friday, as well as the 100 Mile Dinner at Wests that night.
The two day expo is an initiative of the First Light Rotary Club and was intended, and succeeded, at shining a light on what can be done by everyday people, communities, companies and governments to reduce waste.
"It is great to see events like this - to see people walking around talking to different people and different stalls to find solutions to their problems," he said.
"In the end the War on Waste can only start the conversation, it is about people finding their own solutions - there is no real silver bullet - I think we are only just starting to scrape the surface."

Mr Reucassel said it is too early to know whether we are winning the war, but is optimistic.
"We have the occasional victory here and there, but it is a big and ongoing war," he said.
"Some people are really engaged, and some councils are really great - unfortunately, I feel like the higher up you go the less leadership you get in terms of state and federal.
"We have some big problems with recycling for the future, and there doesn't seem to be enough happening."
On a local level the TV crusader would like to see council take a page out of Armidale's books and allow food waste to be put in household green bins, and taken out of landfill.
Late in 2017 Tamworth Council's proposed organic waste recycling plant hit a hurdle when the site was deemed too close to the airport. The Leader understands council is continuing to look at locations.
