Yvonne Patrick landed in Tamworth just last week, although is no stranger to the region after relieving former GM Catharine Death for two months mid last year.

Ms Death is now the GM of the Armidale and Tablelands region.

"I was very impressed with the level of professionalism I experienced in Tamworth, at all levels - clinical, non-clinical, committees and volunteers," Ms Patrick said.

"The staff are the biggest and best asset we have, and are committed to those high standards of patient care that we strive for." 

While the former nurse turned administrator will be based in Tamworth, she will also oversee the hospitals in Walcha, Manilla, Barraba, Quirindi, Werris Creek and Gunnedah as well.

"I am currently in the process of visiting all the services, getting to know the staff and familiarising myself with the issues," she said.

"Catharine (Death) and then Graeme Kershaw, who was interim GM for three months, have done a great job, although it is my vision to now build on what has already been established." 

While Ms Patrick has called Australia home since immigrating in 1999, the former nurse comes with a long history of industry experience from all over the globe.

"I was born and trained to be a nurse in Ireland, and then went traveling working as an emergency nurse in London, Israel and America before moving to Australia," she said.

SInce then Ms Patrick has been a nursing manager and director in several services throughout NSW, most recently serving for 12 years as the General Manager of the Hunter Valley sector.

"I am really happy to be in Tamworth, the people have been very welcoming and supportive," she said.

"I look forward to working with the community."
