Jeffrey Allan Smith, 33, held staff at the Tamworth store at knifepoint and threatened them before fleeing in a Mitsubishi Magna on June 28.
“I note he seems to have stolen the property of the Good Guys – I guess that makes him one of the bad guys,” Judge Jeffery McLennan told the court on Friday, rewarded with laughter.
“In Hillvue, NSW, you did rob [victim’s named retracted] of a sum of money, property of the Good Guys while armed with an offensive object – namely a sharp metal object?”
“Guilty,” Smith replied, appearing via video link from Tamworth Correctional Centre where he is held.
He will be remain behind bars until the matter is dealt with, expected to be before Easter.
Smith fled the scene of the crime and wasn’t arrested until 26 hours later after an extensive police investigation.
He stole gloves, overalls and a mask from a shop, as well as a set of number plates from another car, prior to the late-afternoon hold-up on June 28.

Smith has been behind bars since his arrest by Tamworth police on June 29.
Legal Aid solicitor Wendy McAuliffe represented Smith at the arraignment in the district court on Friday morning and left a short time later to speak further with her client.
At a previous court appearance, his lawyer had requested a second Balund-a assessment for residential rehabilitation, on the basis her client had a “long-standing problem” with drug abuse and a “level of self-medicating with drugs” to manage his medical conditions.
