CHARGES are expected to be laid after two semi-trailers collided on the New England Highway on Friday.
About 4am the semi-trailers were travelling north on the highway at Murrurundi when one hit the rear of the truck in front of it.
The collision happened at about 80 kilometres per hour, causing both vehicles to crash.
Emergency services were called to scene and the highway was shutdown.
One driver suffered minor injuries in the crash. Both heavy vehicles were extensively damaged and had to be towed from the scene.
Investigations into the cause of the collision continue, however the driver of one of the semi-trailers was found to be operating the vehicle on a suspended licence.
Police believe a number of critical fatigue breaches were also made.
The driver’s work diary was confiscated and he is expected to be charged at a later date.
