The Northern Daily Leader is looking at an event that no one is likely to forget any time soon.
We’ve gone back to 2012 when he North West was hit by heavy rains which caused flooding across the region.
The statewide average was 99.7mm during February 2012 with the North West some of the worst hit, according to the Bureau of Meteorology.
BOM went on to report that 26 stations experienced their wettest February since, at least, the 1970s.
It was the wettest February since 1976 at Moree, since 1971 at Gunnedah, and since 1955 at Tamworth.
Tamworth Airport recorded 121mm on February 2, breaking the previous February record of 111.5mm at the old site on February, 20, 1928. Records were also broken at Narrabri, Boggabri, and Nowendoc.
On this day in 2012, February 6, the clean-up was underway following the historic rainfall.
