A feast for the mouth and mind will be held at Wests Leagues Club next weekend as the highlight event of a two day sustainability expo.

The Waste Warrior 100 Mile Dinner will provide guests with a three course meal consisting of nothing but locally produced food, as well as great entertainment from the locally produced Jimmy Craz Band.
While being in the middle of some of Australia’s prime grazing and growing land ensures that taste buds will tingle, guests will also be inspired by special guest host Craig Reucassel of War on Waste fame.
The night is an initiative of Northern Inland Regional Waste (NIRW) in conjunction with Sustainable North West, and aims to educate and open discussions according to program coordinator Alison Leckie.

“Food that is sourced locally is obviously fresher, but it has also travelled less distance, has less packaging, and has been handled less while supporting local growers,” Ms Leckie said.
“It is a great opportunity to talk to people about accessibility to food, portion sizes and avoiding waste, or at least avoiding filling landfill with waste and creating methane.”
Throughout the evening Mr Reucassel will also be addressing the crowd in regards to waste reduction solutions for the local community according to Sustainable North West chair Stephanie Cameron.
“Through his War on Waste documentaries, Mr Reucassel has traveled around the country highlighting the waste problem, and has worked with communities just like ours to find solutions,” she said.
“These events are designed to celebrate the freshness, quality and environmental-friendliness of local food.”
The television star will also be the guest of honour at the inaugural Tamworth Regional Council’s Waste Warrior Expo, a two day showcase being held at the Jockey Club.
The expo is an initiative of the First Light Rotary Club and will see over 30 exhibitors, a farmers and sustainability market as well as several workshops and presentations.
“Once again it is designed to get people talking about sustainability in regards to waste and recycling,” Ms Leckie said.
