The Coffs Harbour artist shares the walls at Weswal Gallery with established local ceramicist Dennis Chapman.
Beattie’s exhibition Fixed: Paper and Plastic on Paper has surprised visitors to the gallery, director Sandra McMahon said.
“People have been intrigued, and when they realise it’s all hand cut and arranged they’re amazed at the skill,” she said.
“There’s a story behind every work, I just think the attention to detail is incredible and I was very happy to offer him his first exhibition.” Tamworth artist Dennis Chapman is showing his ceramic and glass works in his exhibition From the Earth. A well-known and well-respected ceramicist, Chapman used to teach at the local TAFE for many years.
“He’s got quite a following,” Ms Mcmahon said. “Dennis’ show always attracts positive comment.”
Both exhibitions are open at Weswal Gallery until February 24.
