The debates may continue to rage but, for now at least, January 26 is Australia Day. This year it coincides with the culmination of the Tamworth Country Music Festival, so expect people, people and, well, probably, even more people.
The other thing to expect in vast quantities is HEAT! The temperature was predicted to hit 39 on Saturday, but that could well be revised as the day wears on.
But before the night gets rocking with the Golden Guitars, the morning will be dedicated to the local citizen of the year recipients and welcoming new Australians from abroad.
Festivities kicked off in Nundle at 8am, and there was a sheep shearing demonstration along with a barbecue breakfast at the public school.
