Matt Haywood, owner of Cold Rock Ice Creamery on Peel Street said business has been steady with a flow of visitors throughout Friday and Saturday. He said while they’ve not run out of ice cream, they have been running short on bottled water as visitors try to re-hydrate.
Jodie Brookes, owner of Iceberg Frozen Drinks in the Family Zone said that business has been slower than normal in the afternoon, but trading has been running until much later in the evening.
She said: “It is so hot in the afternoon that people are going inside to the air conditioning and then coming out later on in the evening. It’s like being in Hawaii – where people come out later when it’s cooler. Everyone wants a drink and they want it to be cold.”
