Former Wallaby captain John Eales will be the guest speaker at the Rams’ sponsorship night on February 7.
“Every year we hold a sponsorship night for the club,” club registrar Ally Dixon said.
“All our jumpers we auction them off.”
She said they approach Rugby Australia (formerly ARU) about organising a former, or current, player to attend, but this year it was facilitated a little closer to home.
Former Rams junior, and Barraba local, Tom Bowman played with Eales and said he was in touch with him, and luckily for the Rams he was available.
“We are very fortunate and very grateful,” Dixon said.
She said usually they would hold the function at the rugby club but due to the anticipated interest have moved it to the Barraba RSL Hall.
Eales won two World Cups during a glittering 86-test career, leading a Wallabies squad, which Bowman was a part of to World Cup glory in 1999.
He is Australia’s most successful ever captain and was in 2011 inducted into the Wallaby Hall of Fame.
Tickets are $50 and can be purchased through trybooking. RSVP is by Thursday January 31.
