NOT even the stifling heat stopped festival-goers from enjoying the Tamworth Country Music Festival Opening Concert.
In fact, by midday chairs already held poll positions in front of the huge Toyota stage ready for dusk to fall.
And, they were in luck. With a stellar lineup already crowds were shocked when surprise guest Adam Harvey walked on stage.
“I have been coming to the festival since I was 16 and I’ve never missed one,” he said.
“I just turned 44 and it’s become our annual family holiday, we love it here.
“What an honour to be part of the Opening Concert, I think the country music in the part and the fireworks are a fantastic way to kick off the festival.”
Also on the bill were CMAA Academy of Country Music students and tutors, Jasmine Rae, John Stephan, Jayne Denham, Warren H Williams, Gina Timms, 2018 Toyota Star Maker Brad Cox, Haystack Mountain Hermits, Western Distributors, Hurricane Fall and Murphy’s Pigs.
As the sun finally set, revellers turned their eyes to the sky for a spectacular show of fireworks at 9pm before meandering back to their caravans and homes to rest.
For those who missed Adam Harvey at the opening concert, he has another show at Wests Tamworth on Saturday at 8:30pm.
