Oxley Police will be targeting road safety and antisocial behaviour during festival after drafting in numerous officers from the western region and highway patrol for Operation Tamworth Country Music Festival 2019.

While Superintendent Fred Trench would not comment on the exact numbers of extra feet on the beat and on the roads over the next ten days, he did confirm that residents and visitors can expect to see officers all over the region.

“Police are going to focus on road safety, so drink and drug driving, as well as antisocial behaviour and alcohol related violence,” he said.
“We will have police on foot, police on roads, and police on bikes – you will see them all over the footprint – it is a considerable increase in our resources.”
While the officer did praise the 99 per cent of festival goers that have “been very positive” in recent years, he did take the opportunity to warn campers to “leave valuable items at home.”
“If you see anything suspicious please contact police straight away, and we will be down there swiftly,” he said.
