“These rams are superfine and as of December 18 have not cut their teeth,” said owner James Stewart.
“In 2016 the stud entered two fleeces in the Sydney Royal Easter Show and gained a second place in one section. In 2018 we also gained a second place in the spinner’s class.
“This year’s drop has some very stylish wool on them and backs up how the wool clip performed at the Sydney sale in August. The on-property sale will be held at the Moray wool shed and conducted by the helmsman auction system. The Moray wool is always keenly sought after by the trade.”
Agents for the sale are Schute Bell Badgery Lumby.
For more information contact James Stewart on (02) 6779 4215, Todd Clark 0428 248 427 or Graham Andrews on 0400 342 227.
Inspections from 10am and the sale starts at 11.30am.
Fair to showcase Dorset quality
The 52nd Annual New England Dorset Fair - that showcases the lead draft of nine different Poll Dorset Studs from the New England and North West area - will be held at Guyra showgrounds on Wednesday February 6, at 2pm.
The multi-vendor sale allows buyers to select the lead genetics from a range of studs in one convenient location.
This year there will be 90 Poll Dorset rams on offer that have been specially selected from each stud. All studs are accredited Brucellosis free and all rams are free to enter Queensland.
One of the key objectives of the breeders is to breed rams suitable for prime lamb production. The vendors of the fair include Bannawerra, Edwinstowe, Palana, Talbragar, Yasloc, Tenterfield High School, Herculean and Te-angie Poll Dorset studs.
The sale will be run in conjunction with Colin Say & Co from Glen Innes and Davidson Cameron & Co of Guyra conducting the sale.
Merino Ram Show
The 74th Armidale Merino Ram Show and Sale will be conducted at the Armidale Exhibition Centre on February 5 and 6, 2019.
The Show will start at 10.45am on Tuesday and the Ram Sale at 10.30am Wednesday.
There will also be Junior Merino Sheep and Junior Fleece Judging Competition on Tuesday commencing at 8.30am.
Following on from the very successful 2018 sale and with the current strong sheep and wool market, association president Tim Bower expects the 80 outstanding quality rams catalogued for the 2019 Show and Sale to be well supported by prospective buyers.
In 2018 the sale averaged $4,077 with a remarkable 94 percent clearance.
