The stud continues to purchase sires from Farrer as they consistently produce high indexing, well-grown sheep which flows into what the stud is trying to produce with its breeding objectives.
“We are looking to produce structurally sound sheep with a large frame, with good figures that will produce a commercially viable progeny,” said Angus Burnell.
“We are aiming for low birth weight sheep with high growth rates that are consistent and well finishing lambs.
“We believe that White Suffolks are well suited to the first cross lamb market with their ease of birth, high fertility and quick finishing lambs.
“With naturally good LEQ (Lamb Eating Quality) and the current price of lamb they make for a profitable enterprise.”
The stud will be offering 20 to 30 rams for sale at the Walcha British Breeds Sale on Wednesday February 13, 2019.
The rams offered will be the top of the drop with figures available on Lamplan in mid January. Contact Angus on 0427787332 for more information.
