“He is one of the leading sires in Australia at the moment with over 100 doses of semen sold in the last six months, to some of the leading studs in Australia,” said Mr Lisle.
“He is a trait leader for WWT, PWT and PEMD and eating quality traits, with a very high degree of accuracy which has been passed onto his sons.
“In this ever changing lamb market he will produce progeny that will maximise profit.”
Mr Lisle said at Old Woombi they were driven to produce quick growing high yielding rams, traits that will be inherited by their progeny.
“This has benefited our clients, given the unpredictable climatic conditions faced in Australia in the past two years.
“Old Woombi aims to produce long bodied rams, with eye muscle depth and ample fat covering, that meet trade requirements.
“While still concentrating on structurally sound rams, the stud endeavours to produce high growth and early finishing breeding values.
“This year we will be offering 70 2017 drop Poll Dorsets, 10 2018 drop Poll Dorsets and eight 2017 drop Charollais.”
Old Woombi Poll Dorset Stud, Ashfield, at Walcha, was started by Sam Lisle and his wife Kate in 2009.

STANLEY VALE STUD, URALLA
“One of the only certainties in farming is that you can’t rely on the weather,” said Stanley Vale Merino Stud owner Tim Bower.
“Like for many others, this has been one of the driest seasons on record. Up to mid-December we had only had 500mm of rain for the year.”
Mr Bower said strong wool, lamb and cattle prices had helped the family manage the cost of feeding stock through the drought.
“And despite the challenging season the main wool lines had been testing above 50Nktex.
“Our stud rams continue to feature a number of ASBV trait leaders, the top 10 percent for fibre diameter, staple strength and fibre coefficient of variance at yearling age,” said Mr Bower.
“Several of our young rams are also ranking in the top 10 percent of the Fibre Production Plus (FP+) index, which rank animals on their abilities to produce Merinos for a wool production operation.
“We remain pleased with the impact electronic tags, additional trail recording and ASBVs are having in the stud and are very pleased with the lineup of the rams for the 2019 sale.” Phone Tim on (02) 6778 4598.
