The pilots were battling it out in the annual National Club and Sports Class Championships, with Manilla’s Allan Barnes and Queensland’s Adam Woolley taking top honours.
Competition director Mandy Temple said the competition was a “major success”.
“We were very lucky to have 11 days of near-perfect flying,” Temple said.
“The overseas pilots absolutely loved it, in fact I think some of them didn’t want to leave.
“It was an excellent competition in the end and I think it is further proof that Lake Keepit is becoming a real show piece for the sport in Australia.”

As well as offering national titles, the competition also acted as a practice run ahead of the female world championships in December this year.
“The club is really excited to be hosting those championships as well,” Temple said.
“I know the aviation industry is really keen to include more women and gliding is a great stepping stone.
“So far we have had 48 expressions of interest for the event, but I wouldn’t be surprised if we see a few more.”
Temple said anyone interested in flying should reach out to the club.
“I think the big thing the club will take out of the championships is that we are ready, organised and excited for the female world titles,” she said.
“In the meantime though, anyone keen to give it a go is always welcome.”
