FOR Kookaburras captain Cameron Milne, being the competition’s leading run-scorer is small potatoes compared to team success.
An improved first half of the season has seen Kookaburras come within striking distance of claiming the one-day title.
And while he has scored 330 runs at an average of 55, Milne is not interested in beating his chest – team success “is all that matters”.
“The boys are playing really well and the competition has certainly evened up from last year,” he said.
“A few younger guys, in not just our team but across the competition, have really stepped up and breathed a bit of life into the competition.
“But for us, we are just looking at the next one-day game, as that is the one that may help us take home some silverware for the first time in a while.”

“Basically, it comes down to us beating Mornington and hoping that Court House beat Albion,” Milne said. “Even if Albion do beat Court House, as long as we still win, we might be OK.
“I think something like this would be really good for our guys, who have been around a while and haven’t tasted much success.
“They’ve never really been in this position before so it’s exciting and it will be interesting to see how they respond in that first one-day game.”
Kookaburras will take on Mornington in their last one-day game, on January 12, while Albion will do battle with Court House at Wolseley Oval that same day.
