It has been a mixed year for business in the Tamworth region.
In August, 84 per cent of local businesses cited being negatively impacted by the big dry (according to NSW Business Chamber data).
Cash flow was poor and staff cuts were rife.
Then it rained … not enough to fix the losses already incurred but enough to boost spirits.
Local retailers reported elevated October and November sales, a positive economic indicator leading into Christmas.
The announcement of the bush wage subsidy trial in late October was also a win for young apprentices and small business.
It will provide a much-needed boost to our business community and is something we will throw our support behind.
Add to this the Chamber working with local business to save money on energy, and with Tamworth Regional Council to expand our economic footprint, and we believe we’re in a good position to grow in 2019 and beyond.
So now it’s time to take stock of the year just gone, spend time with loved ones and plan for the year ahead.
Together, if we grow our business, we grow this great region.
On behalf of the team, thank you for your ongoing support and trust in the Tamworth Business Chamber.
We wish you, your staff and families a very Merry Christmas and look forward to working together in 2019.
