The city’s local performing arts groups continued to present high quality productions in dance, theatre, music and musical theatre and we had some excellent national touring productions like The Eventstarring Catherine McClements, Bosom Buddies starring Nancy Hayes and Todd McKenney.
We presented two great events during Taste Festival – James Valentine’s Afternoon Tonight Live and The Wine Bluffs, a great comedy night about all things wine.
We took some small shows out across the LGA to Nundle, Bendemeer and Manilla and it was great to take the Capitol Theatre brand out to our smaller towns and villages.
TRECC was very busy with conferences, seminars, awards nights, trade shows, cars shows, Capers, School Presentations, concerts – including international artists Kip Moore and Lee Brice.
With the Capitol Theatre lease expiring in just under 5 years, 2018 also saw the work begin on the concept design, costings and business case for a new performing arts centre and arts precinct for the city.
It’s fair to say 2018 was year about building cultural connections in our city and laying the foundations for the arts to be a major part of our city’s DNA.
I like to wish everyone across our fair city a wonderful Christmas and a safe and festive holiday season.
