SOUTH Tamworth Bowling Club has been chosen to host the state’s best bowlers for the annual NSW Champion of Club Champions tournament in 2019 and 2020.
The annual tournament will see some of the country’s best players battle it out over two days late next year vying to be the state champion.
South Tamworth president Lucas Preston said it was an honour to be selected to host the event above the hundreds of over clubs that applied.
“It is a pretty exciting thing for us to be hosting,” Preston said.
“It’s a big honour to have the state’s best bowlers coming to play here and I think that some of the country’s best bowlers are from NSW, so there will be a lot of talent on display.”

Preston said he believes the club’s facilities were a major reason behind the selection.
“We are very lucky to have a great green keeper and so many people doing what they can to keep our greens in top-notch shape,” he said.
“A lot of the credit should also go to our volunteers, as a club we are very lucky to have so many people working hard behind the scenes and without them we wouldn’t be able to host things like this.”
To qualify for the tournament, players must first win their club championship and their zone championship.
“From here we will work alongside Bowls NSW and plan it together,” Preston said.
“It’s fair to say that players that do make it will be the best of the best.
“As a club we are really excited to be hosting this magnificent event and can’t wait to get into it.”
