POLICE are following several leads in the hunt for thieves behind a handful of stolen cars in Tamworth.

On Sunday night, three cars were stolen in the Calala and South Tamworth area, two of them later dumped and another burnt out in Coledale.
The owner of a Holden Club Sport Holden last saw the sedan parked in the driveway of his Falcon Drive house about 11.30pm on Sunday.
The car was stolen then torched in Kenny Drive in the early hours of Monday.
Officers were doorknocking the area on Monday in search of CCTV and any witnesses.
A stolen Mazda BT-50 utility was found dumped in Wren Close on Monday, while a stolen silver Nissan Patrol was being forensically examined by officers after it was abandoned in South Tamworth.
Police said it was parked and locked at a motel off Goonoo Goonoo Road with cash and other goods inside at 8.30pm on Sunday and discovered missing at 6.30am on Monday.

Personal goods, cards and cash inside were taken but coins and a cheque was found nearby on the ground.
Officers are trying to determine possible links between the thefts and the locations the cars were dumped.
