ATAR results were released on Thursday and the students returned to school for a farewell morning tea to discuss their futures.
And, through it all, Year 12 advisor Natalie Hill has been both a comrade and a shoulder to cry on.
“It’s been really tough for this year group, they’ve had a lot of personal tragedies over the last few years,” she said.
“But as a year group they are the strongest, cohesive group I’ve ever seen.”
The students didn’t let setbacks get in their way, with the year group recording 21 band six’s and 82 band fives.
One student, Maigan Galloway, scored an impressive 94.65 ATAR and plans to use the mark to get entry into a Bachelor of Science at the University of New England.
“I haven’t decided on something to specialise in yet, but I plan to do something more general and then think about where I want to go,” she said.
“I’m really happy with my marks.”
Among the students were future teachers, agriculturalists, psychologists and dramatists.
Supporting each other through some of the more stressful study times is what helped the most Ms Hill said.
She took the opportunity at the morning tea to remind students who didn’t get the marks they expected that there’s always a way to get where you need to be – as long as they’re creative.
