The Tamworth City Clay Target club will host the NSW Night Double Barrel Continental Championship and is expecting shooters of all ages.
Club president Geoff Hunter said the club was expecting a big turn out.
“It’s our last shoot of the year and the last chance for shooters to win a state title in their category,” Hunter said.
“A state championship is always worth winning regardless of the category, so we are hopeful of having a lot of shooters taking part.
“However, seeing as there is no pre-entry period it’s difficult to know exactly how many we will have.”

Friday’s competition is expected to see several junior competitors participate with Tamworth boasting one of the biggest junior bases in the state.
“I serve on the state committee as well and I can say that our club is run very differently to others around the state,” Hunter said.
“We had a focus about six or seven years ago on encouraging young people to get involved and we formed an affiliation with Farrer.
“Now we have plenty of school kids involved every Wednesday through the school and we are starting to see the students who started six or seven years ago coming back, which is good.”
Friday’s action will kick off at 6pm with the 30-target continental medley in the daylight before the state double barrel championships begin at 8.15pm under lights.
“We are pretty lucky that we have some of the best infrastructure in the state when it comes to lights,” Hunter said.
“Some clubs do it differently but way we are able to do it is with the colour of the targets, the back drop and the power of the lights.
“It makes for some great shooting, we will have the canteen open as well during the night so it is shaping up to be a great event for us.”
