Jason Matthew Picton was found not guilty by a jury following a trial spanning more than three weeks in Armidale District Court.
The jury took just over an hour on Monday to find Picton not guilty of the charge of dangerous driving occasioning death by driving in a dangerous manner.
Five other back-up charges were dismissed by Judge Jeffery McLennan.
A 54-year-old male passenger in the vehicle died at the scene.

Picton, then 32, had to be freed from the wreckage by emergency services and was airlifted to hospital after suffering several fractures.
Following a lengthy investigation by officers from the Crash Investigation Unit, Picton was charged in January 2016 with six offences.
