At number 16, the Glasshouse has beaten out foodie favourites in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
Owners Simon and Sarah Haggarty completed the restaurant, that overlooks the rolling hills of Goonoo Goonoo Station and the Liverpool Range, in 2016.
“The basis of our menu, as with most, is the protein,” Mr Haggerty said.
“Country people are interested in where their meat is coming from, so we use lamb from Armidale, beef from Glen Innes, pork from Willy Willy and we sourced the best local and regional produce and built the menu around it.”
It’s a casual dining experience in a state-of-the art location, with the level of service and fit out on the fine dining end of the scale.
“We encourage everyone to dine with us, we certainly are not selective or exclusive,” Mr Haggerty said.
Chef Damien Moyses has lived in Tamworth for many years and stood out because of his passion for a higher standard of food, Mrs Haggerty said, with the right mixture of enthusiasm and talent.
The new menu just released and the couple’s top picks are the Nundle trout pate and Rangers Valley marble scored rump.
