The Tune Into Recycling program ambassador for the last 17 years, Mr Cassar-Daley dropped in to Westdale Public School for a lesson in landfill.
“It’s wanting to give something back to town that as an artist you can spread a message with what you do,” he said.
“We’re talking putting things in the right bins and it’s so easy.”
Visiting Challenge Community Services at the recycling plant, Mr Cassar-Daley was given the opportunity to watch exactly what happens once rubbish arrives at the tip.
With a huge swell of crowds coming into Tamworth for the Toyota Country Music Festival each year, an estimated eight tonnes of recycling is diverted from landfill during each festival.
That’s at least 520,000 aluminum cans, and if laid end to end it would stretch the distance from Tamworth to Yepoon QLD.
Shocked by the amount of items that didn’t belong in the recycling, he was again inspired to get the message out to kids.

“It just makes their job so much easier to recycle correctly,” he said.
“I hope they’re going to be talking to their parents about what they learned today and become part of the educational process.
“It’s a really wonderful vibe to get into the kids’ minds that the ball is in their court, they’ll be teaching their parents what can and can’t go into the recycling which I think is great.”
