The reasons are that Scully pool is accessible to the residents of South and South West Tamworth and Coledale who often have financial disadvantages.
Children from South/West of Tamworth and Coledale walk to the pool daily during the hottest months.
The cost of entry is affordable for families with multiple children, the sample from Glen Eira’s patron’s fees displayed by Council would be unaffordable to a whole segment of the Tamworth community.
A large number of people from the local Aboriginal community are high users of Scully Pool, where they congregate as families and meet up with friends in a safe and friendly environment.
Many houses in the South West of Tamworth and Coledale don’t have air conditioning and they use Scully pool to cool off during the hottest months.
Many residents of South West Tamworth do not have access to transport. Walking is accessible to Scully pool.
These reasons are not about strategies or budgets, however the decisions could have a negative impact on a large segment of the Tamworth community.
There is room to think of an aquatic centre and retain the family oriented Scully pool 'in town' for those patrons who have supported Scully pool for many many years.
