Jason Jordan Trindall appeared in Tamworth Local Court this week and pleaded guilty to a charge of robbery in company.

Appearing via video link from Shortland Correctional Centre, where he’s being held in custody, Trindall watched on as Legal Aid solicitor Wendy McAuliffe completed the formalities to have the case moved to the district court for sentencing.

“I’m instructed to enter a plea of guilty and that’s a committal for sentence,” she told the court.

Ms McAuliffe did not object to a draft set of facts and Trindall’s record being tendered but said they weren’t entirely agreed.

“There is one line in issue,” she said.

Magistrate Julie Soars accepted the plea and committed Trindall for sentence in Tamworth District Court with a sentencing date to be fixed at the start of February.

"I'll mark you as bail not applied for, refused,” she told Trindall.

The court heard Trindall also had a breach of bond for failing to respond to supervision.

“He’s asked if Your Honour would consider ordering a sentencing assessment report,” Ms McAullife said.

Ms McAuliffe said she hoped the report would detail “what was happening in his life” and "why he wasn’t reporting” at the time.

Ms Soars ordered the report ahead of sentencing next year.

It was the police case that Trindall grabbed a 62-year-old shopkeeper during the robbery, about 5.25pm on May 21 at the Hillvue Superette, before stealing the cash register and its contents.

The then 27-year-old was arrested by Oxley detectives two days after and has been in custody ever since.

The day after the robbery, Sue Wilkinson detailed how she was left bruised after being grabbed while behind the counter during her shift at the Hillvue Superette.

Two teenage boys, aged 13 and 17 at the time, were also charged in connection to the robbery.
